About the author
Luke Hurst is a Tasmanian multidisciplinary artist working across poetry, drag, cabaret, and film. Based in Hobart, he is the founder of LLDC Entertainment and curates Scream and Shout Poetry, a live poetry night blending spoken word with projection and soundscape. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (QUT, Distinction).
His poetry moves between dark comedy and confession, using metaphor and reversal to unsettle the ordinary: childhood objects, domestic ritual, and the body all recur as sites of transformation. Luke was awarded a Hobart City Council grant to present poetry set to animations on The Loop (public screen), has been recorded by Contemporary Art Tasmania, and he will appear as a featured touring poet at the Tasmanian Poetry Festival in October 2026.
